Skyactiv-Body is Mazda's name for its lightweight, rigid body structure. It relies heavily on high-tensile and ultra-high-tensile steels to reduce weight while improving crash performance.
High-tensile steels are strong but less forgiving. Mazda's repair information limits straightening on many parts and restricts heat. When a part is outside those limits, it is replaced or sectioned at approved points.
After a significant collision, we mount the vehicle on a bench and measure it against Mazda's dimensional data. The results show which areas moved and whether they can be pulled back or must be replaced.
After dimensions are restored, we fit panels, check alignment and calibrate i-Activsense systems as required.
High-tensile steel can weaken when bent back; Mazda may require replacement.
