Not all structural damage is at the front or rear. Side impacts and rollovers can damage pillars, roof rails and the roof itself. On Infiniti SUVs like the QX60 and QX80, large panoramic moonroofs add complexity.
A-, B- and C-pillars protect occupants and support the roof. They are made from high-strength steels in multiple layers. Infiniti's procedures specify whether a damaged pillar can be sectioned and how. Airbag curtains and wiring inside the pillars are protected or replaced as needed.
