Unlike most cars, the F-150, Super Duty, Ranger, Expedition and Bronco are built body-on-frame. The cab and bed bolt to a steel ladder frame. That design is tough, but after a collision the frame, cab mounts and bed mounts all need to be checked independently.
We mount the truck and compare frame points to Ford's specifications. Because the frame is long, small angles at one end become large misalignments at the other, which shows up as uneven bed gaps or a crooked steering wheel.
Ford's procedures specify when a frame can be straightened, when a damaged section can be replaced, and when a full frame replacement is required. Heat is generally avoided on high-strength frame steel. We follow those rules for each truck and year.
If you tow, the hitch, wiring and trailer sensors must work perfectly. We inspect the receiver and crossmember and test trailer lighting and Pro Trailer Backup Assist where equipped.
No. The Maverick uses unibody construction, so its structural repair process is different from the F-150's.
Often, yes, if damage is within Ford's straightening limits. Otherwise sections or the frame are replaced.
The frame or bed mounts may have shifted. Measuring will confirm.
