Matching Audi Paint: Nardo Gray, Daytona Gray and Pearl Effects

Audi Colors Are Distinctive

Audi has built a reputation for bold, recognizable colors. Nardo Gray is a flat, non-metallic gray that became an enthusiast favorite. Daytona Gray Pearl and Mythos Black Metallic rely on effect particles that shift with the light. Each type presents a different matching challenge.

Solid Colors Show Texture

With a solid color like Nardo Gray, there is no metallic sparkle to hide small differences. Instead, clear coat texture and gloss must match the factory finish exactly. We adjust spray technique and clear coat to reproduce the original orange-peel texture.

Pearls and Metallics Change With Angle

Metallic and pearl flakes lie differently depending on how paint is sprayed. A color can match straight on but look darker from the side. We spray test cards, compare them to the car at several angles and in daylight, and adjust the formula before painting.

Blending for a Seamless Result

Instead of painting only the repaired panel, we usually blend color into the neighboring panels. That transition makes small differences invisible. On an Audi, that might mean blending from a repaired fender into the hood edge and front door.

Aluminum Panels Need Special Prep

Many Audi hoods and fenders are aluminum. They require specific cleaning, sanding and primers to ensure paint adhesion and prevent corrosion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I find my Audi paint code?

It is usually on a sticker in the spare tire well or in the trunk, listed as a code on the vehicle data label.

Why does my new bumper look different?

Plastic bumpers and metal panels can take paint differently. Proper flex additives, test panels and blending address this.

Is matte or satin paint repairable?

Yes, but it cannot be polished or blended in the usual way. It requires specific products and careful technique.
