The IONIQ 5 uses a clamshell hood that wraps over the tops of the front fenders, so the hood-to-fender seam sits lower than on most cars. A front corner impact may involve both the hood and fender, and alignment between them is critical for the car's clean look.
Models like the Kona, Tucson and Santa Cruz use bold wheel-arch cladding. Curb strikes and parking lot bumps often crack this trim. Replacement cladding must match the trim level and finish.
Small dents can be repaired; creased or stretched fenders are usually replaced. We check the fender apron, headlamp mounts and inner liner for hidden damage.
We fit fenders and hoods before paint, adjusting mounts to achieve even gaps. After reassembly, headlamps are aimed if they were disturbed.
Rear body sides are welded quarter panels. Damage there is a structural repair with different procedures.
Clamshell hoods are large panels, so replacement and refinishing cost more than a standard hood.
Small cracks sometimes can, but replacement usually gives a better result.
