Chrysler Certified Collision Repair Shop

Repairs for Tesla Insurance Customers

Tesla Insurance covers many Tesla owners in California, and Tesla vehicles come with their own repair demands: aluminum and mixed-metal structures, large castings on newer models, and camera-based driver assistance that must work perfectly after a repair.

We handle the vehicle side of the claim and keep Tesla Insurance updated with photos, estimates and supplements. For details on how we repair the cars themselves, see our Tesla collision repair page.

From claim to keys: what actually happens

Typical ranges for a drivable, single-impact repair in Los Angeles. Two stages sit with your insurer, not with us — those are the ones that usually move the date.

You Your insurer Regal Repair

Day 0 You
Report the claim

Lemonade app, web, or phone. Get your claim number — everything else hangs off it.
Day 0–1 You
Choose your shop

Your call, not your insurer's. California Insurance Code §758.5 protects this.
Day 1–3 Regal Repair
Estimate & teardown

We document visible damage, then pull panels to find what a photo estimate misses.
Day 3–7 Insurer
Adjuster approval

The carrier reviews our estimate and any supplement from teardown.
Delay point — we chase this daily.
Day 5–14 Insurer
Parts ordered

OEM parts on hand ship in days. Backordered structural parts can take weeks.
Delay point — outside anyone's control.
+2–4 days Regal Repair
Repair, refinish & ADAS

Body work, colour match, reassembly, then recalibration of any camera or radar we disturbed.
Final day Regal Repair
QC & delivery

Road test, final inspection, wash. You pay your deductible — we bill the carrier for the rest.

Ranges reflect our typical Los Angeles cycle times for drivable, single-impact repairs. Structural damage, aluminium bodies, EV battery-adjacent work and backordered parts all extend the timeline. We give you a dated completion estimate after teardown, not before.

Choosing a shop

Insurer-recommended shop vs. independent shop

Direct Repair Program (DRP) shops have real advantages, and we'd rather you know what they are. Here is the honest comparison — then decide.

Comparison of direct repair program shops and independent shops across eight criteria
	Insurer’s DRP shop	Independent shop
Who picks it	~Your insurer suggests it. You can still say no.	✓You do. California law protects that choice.
Approval speed	✓Often faster — pre-agreed rates and, at some shops, on-site adjusting.	~Estimate goes through normal review. Usually days, not weeks.
Rental logistics	✓Frequently arranged for you as part of the program.	~We arrange it, or provide a loaner. One extra phone call.
Parts used	~Program agreements often favour aftermarket or recycled parts to control cost.	✓We specify OEM and argue the case for it on your behalf.
Who the shop answers to	~Two customers: you, and the insurer sending steady volume.	✓One customer: you. That is the whole difference.
Supplements	✓Streamlined — but written within program cost expectations.	✓We document hidden damage and push for full payment.
Repair standard	~Varies by shop. Ask about OEM certification for your make.	✓Ask us the same question — we hold 18 manufacturer certifications and I-CAR Gold Class.
Warranty	✓Insurer-backed while you keep the policy.	✓Our lifetime warranty follows the repair, not the policy.

A good DRP shop does good work. The question is not which type of shop is better — it is whether the shop repairing your car is answerable to you or to the company paying the bill. Ask any shop, DRP or not, whether they are certified for your specific make.

The money

Who pays what on a covered repair

A worked example. Your numbers will differ, but the shape of the bill does not.

Approved repair $4,200 on a $1,000 collision deductible

Insurer $3,020

You $1,000

$180

Insurer pays us directly Your deductible Betterment

Insurer pays $3,020

Paid straight to us. You never front this money and you never chase a reimbursement cheque.

Your deductible $1,000

The fixed amount on your policy. Due when you collect the car. If another driver is at fault and their insurer accepts liability, you may get this back — we can bill their carrier instead where that is possible.

Betterment $180

When a worn part — tyres, a rusted bracket, a faded bumper cover — is replaced with new, insurers pay for the damage, not the upgrade. You cover the difference. We tell you the number before we order the part, never after.

You pay at pickup $1,180

Deductible plus betterment. Nothing else, unless you asked for work outside the claim.

What about supplements? Almost no first estimate survives teardown — a bent rail or a cracked bracket only shows up once panels come off. We document it, submit a supplement, and the insurer pays the increase. A supplement does not raise your deductible. If a carrier refuses to approve a repair we believe your car needs, we tell you in writing rather than quietly cutting corners.

Illustrative figures for explanation only — not a quote, and not a statement of your coverage. Your deductible, betterment and covered amounts come from your own policy and your insurer's approved estimate. Bring your declarations page or claim number and we will walk you through your actual numbers before any work starts.

Plan your time without the car

How long will my repair take?

Pick the closest description of your damage. These are our real Los Angeles averages for insurance work, counted in working days from approval — not from the day you crashed.

What moves the date

Get a dated estimate — (818) 505-1442

Working days in the shop, after your insurer approves the estimate. Add 3–7 days for that approval, and more if parts are on backorder. We give you a dated completion estimate once we have torn the vehicle down and seen the real damage — a photo cannot show a bent rail.

Low-mileage cars & total loss

Will my insurer total my car?

Pay-per-mile policies often cover older, lower-value cars — and a lower value means a smaller repair bill can tip a vehicle into total loss. Put in two numbers to see roughly where you stand.

Estimated repair costFrom your shop or adjuster $ What your car is worthActual cash value before the crash $

0%Likely repairable | 70%80% | Likely total100%+

Borderline — could go either way

Repair cost is 72% of your car’s value

Orientation only — not a valuation and not a decision. California uses a total loss formula: a car is generally a total loss when the cost to repair it plus its salvage value meets or exceeds what the car was worth. Salvage is assumed here at 20–30% of value, which is why the band sits around 70–80%. Your insurer runs its own valuation with its own data. Bring us the estimate and we will tell you what we actually see.

Regal Repair is Certified by Car Manufacturers

We are proud to be certified collision center by car manufactures. That means: each aspect of the repair followed the Original Manufacturer’s (OEM) specified repair procedures, each technician assigned to your vehicle’s repair has the qualifications, certification and/or training necessary to properly perform their assigned job, and only genuine quality repair parts are used. According to industry statistics, Regal Repair OEM Certified Center is among the top 10% of collision repair businesses in the country and in an elite league as a best-in-class business operation.

Brands we are certified to repair

I-CAR Gold Class — held by about 15% of collision repair shops

Gold Class obliges every technician involved in collision repair to complete training every single year: hidden damage, repair-versus-replace decisions, airbag and seatbelt inspection, and technology that did not exist last model year.

What Gold Class requires

I-CAR Platinum technicians and VIN-documented repairs

Our technicians hold I-CAR Platinum recognition and ASE certification. Completed repairs are documented against the vehicle's VIN and secured for the life of the car, so a future buyer or appraiser can see exactly how the work was done.

Manufacturer certification means the automaker has audited Regal Repair's tooling, technician training and documented repair procedures against its own requirements. BMW, MINI and Tesla work is handled as a specialisation rather than under a manufacturer certification programme, and is labelled that way here. All manufacturer logos and trademarks are the property of their respective owners.
